From 30 March to 01 April, consortium members ABCircular and DGM represented the CLASCO project at the international trade show ChangeNOW in Paris, held at the Grand Palais. The event is recognized as one of the world’s largest platforms for solutions addressing planetary challenges and brought together more than 100 exhibitors and over 40,000 participants from 140 countries, including companies, startups, investors, policy makers, and members of the public.
Through its booth presence, ABCircular and DGM created the opportunity for CLASCO to contribute to this international sustainability-focused setting and to present the project’s latest developments to a broad and diverse audience. The project showcased demonstration samples and current results that illustrated its work on more sustainable manufacturing technologies. A VIP tour was hold for interested stakeholders.
A central aspect of the presentation was CLASCO’s specific contribution to sustainability in advanced production. The project is developing a two-step laser surface modification process integrated into one complete machine. This approach is designed to support several sustainability goals at once. It enables the transition toward more sustainable materials, replaces conventional manufacturing routes that are often associated with higher material waste, and enhances the functional properties required in demanding biomedical and aerospace use cases.
By combining material development with an efficient laser-based processing route, CLASCO demonstrated how surface engineering can contribute to more resource-conscious and application-oriented manufacturing. The presentation at ChangeNOW offered a valuable opportunity to communicate these developments to an international audience with strong interest in practical and scalable sustainability solutions.
The consortium thanks ABCircular for enabling CLASCO’s participation in the event.
Participating representatives included Prof. Gesa Beck and Julia Gebefügi from ABCircular, as well as Sebastian Slawik from DGM.
